This weekend is a live-in ashram immersion - a return to a simple and steady rhythm of practice, meals, rest, and observation.

Nothing extra. Nothing added.

Just the conditions to practice more closely.

The Weekend Rhythm

Over the course of the weekend we will move together through:

  • morning and afternoon yoga practice

  • shared vegetarian meals

  • time for rest and quiet

  • space for conversation and reflection

Held within the simplicity of the Ashram environment.

The structure is intentional.

The group is small.

So the work can be seen, and practice can deepen without distraction.

In October 2026, will you join me for an unforgettable journey into the heart of Sri Lanka?

It’s been calling me for a long time - a place where lush green landscapes, timeless traditions, and the warmth of its people invite you to slow down, breathe deeply, and reconnect.

We’ll begin by the sea in Negombo, letting the rhythm of the waves ease us into the island’s embrace. From there, we travel south to our home for 7 nights - an eco-conscious lakeside sanctuary in Ahangama, dedicated to rest, reflection, and transformation.

Each day we’ll immerse ourselves in Iyengar Yoga, a retreat program of asana, pranayama, and meditation - woven to deepen both practice and presence. Beyond the mat, we’ll explore the wild beauty of Sri Lanka: watching elephants roam free on safari, wandering through the historic streets of Galle Fort, and sharing slow meals by the water.

We close with a sunset farewell by the sea with hearts full, bodies nourished, and spirits lifted ready to carry the rhythm of this island home.

We begin in the foothills of the Himalayas, in Rishikesh, the birthplace of yoga.
Here, practice is woven into the day:

We will be Nestled in the verdant hills of Orvieto (Umbria), in a delightful fourteenth century farm house.

Yoga and Activities

There are two fully equipped yoga studios and an outdoor practice pavilion. The indoor studio has a rope wall and all three areas have views overlooking the gardens. The spaces have a warm and inviting atmosphere with ceiling fans and sensitive lighting to the indoor studios.

Over the week you will get to experience classes together, workshops and smaller split group classes, which gives you an all round fully immersive experience and at times a teacher dedicated to helping adjust.

We will embark on a series of yoga classes which will evolve over the week and be bespoke to the group, taking you at the right speed and level. The morning practice on most days will be active classes and the afternoon sessions will focus on quieter, more reflective restorative sequences.

Food from the Locanda Kitchen

Delicious, healthy, regional Italian meals are provided each day. Sometimes we will have simple fruit before practice and a big brunch, some days you can enjoy three meals depending on the activities of the day.   

Our cuisine for the week is mainly vegetarian/vegan with some fish options and gluten free and other dietary allergies can be catered for. A lot of the produce used is naturally grown and locally sourced.

On the last day we can look forward to Maria Pizza night, made by Locanda’s favourite cook in their authentic pizza oven. Delicious gluten free and vegan options are also provided.

The Locanda also has an extensive wine list which is carefully inspired by natural principles: quality wines from vineyards that maintain local tradition.

Lovely ensuite accommodation

The style is simple but elegant Umbrian with terracotta floors, wood-beamed ceilings and stone walls. All rooms have a private bathroom, air-conditiong and outdoor seating area. Locanda della Quercia Calante uses solar energy for all its areas, including an advanced climate control system. The comfortable rooms are free from electromagnetic fields, to guarantee the guests an optimally relaxing stay.

Swimming pool and garden
The gardens, surrounded by oaks and century-old plants, include a spring water pool, a true privilege for Locanda della Quercia Calante guests. The only one of its kind at a holiday farm in Castel GiorgioOrvieto and all of Umbria, the natural lake-shaped pool is surrounded by volcanic rock and divided into three pools on different levels connected by a system of rocky waterfalls. A place where guests discover true wellbeing, with a large whirlpool bath in the middle.

The Location

The Locanda della Quercia Calante is located in the countryside by the town of Castel Giorgio (in the province of Terni), a small village 18 kilometers from Orvieto, in Umbria. Set in a verdant park, the holiday farm is surrounded by quiet wooded hills and grassy glades. It is the ideal spot for a natural vacation, where you can regain your energy and visit its uncontaminated countryside,

During our visit will be able to visit the majestic city of Orvieto, the crystal-clear waters of Lake Bolsena and ancient Medieval villages like Civita di Bagnoregio. There are also numerous nearby spas, such as the Medici's San Casciano Bagni, or the romantic Bagno Vignoni.

Your hosts

Kellie Brett

Kellie’s Iyengar Yoga journey began in 1992 after walking out of her first class realising the trees were greener and the sky was bluer, her senses were alive. This path brought her peace, inner joy, inspiration, healing and in 2010, she chose to share her passion by becoming a certified Iyengar teacher. Now a level 3 certified Iyengar teacher, she is nurturing and mentoring others who will share their passion through the myoga teacher training program.

Kellie is a warm and engaging teacher who inspires confidence in her students to explore their potentials. She loves the way Iyengar yoga adapts and expands to meet the needs of all individuals, regardless of level, and delights in watching students glimmer the alchemy that yoga offers.

 She has taught in longstanding schools and Ashrams, in private classes, workshops and even a class of 250. She enjoys the immersion of retreats and has taught her students in Thailand, India and all over Western Australia. She is grateful to each student she encountered throughout the years, without whom a teacher can neither teach nor learn. 

Kelly Brooks

Kelly found Iyengar yoga when she worked at a magic circle law firm and it served her as a recovery tool from a cycling injury and she has been practising for over 15 years. The transformational aspect of Iyengar yoga encouraged her to spend six years training to qualify as an Iyengar Yoga teacher and spending time in India with the Iyengar Yoga family.

Kelly is passionate about alignment and using props to emphasise the benefits of alignment. In her classes you can expect clear demonstrations and precise instructions. Kelly loves to travel, teaching retreats across Europe and she is excited to be back teaching in Italy having taught an annual retreat in Tuscany for seven years..  Kelly likes to add fun and creativity in her teaching, encouraging people to challenge themselves whilst also giving them space to relax from their hectic lives.

The key is working well! The body needs to know the postures—really know them. Props aren’t there for collapsing into; while they support and replace the effort, the integrity of the asana remains as if the props weren’t even there. Every part of the body is alive and engaged in the pose, with the props offering just a little helping hand along the way.

It’s not the easiest thing to carve out two hours for quiet, restorative practice on your own. That’s why group practice is such a gift! Coming together in a shared space creates a supportive, encouraging atmosphere. Will you join me?

I’ve been dreaming of walking with a group of yogi’s in India for a long time.

This 10 day pilgrimage through Southern India begins in the enclave of Fort Kochi on the West Coast where history, art and culture converge with the echos of ancient trade.

From here we train to the Southern tip of Kerala where the heart of our retreat lies amongst swaying coconut palms, the Kerala backwaters and the Arabian Sea. It’s here we settle for a 5 day yoga immersion.

Onward, refreshed, untangled and open we board houseboats serviced with private chefs, to spend 2 days canoeing the backwaters, immersing in village life visiting churches, and a local school.

We complete together in Kochi, an afternoon to refresh, pick up any last minute gifts, unwind and reset before sharing a farewell dinner together.

Peter Scott - Iyengar yoga workshop

I’m thrilled to announce that after an inspiring and uplifting workshops in 2022 and 2023, Peter Scott is coming to Perth to teach again in September, 2024! I’ve been studying online with Peter since he began his online offering in August 2020 and more recently have begun a teacher training and development program under his mentorship. His instruction is rich, clear and offers a coherent pathway through the Iyengar syllabi.

The workshop will be held over the weekend, with an opportunity for all students with some yoga experience to attend and also 2 opportunities for certified and trainee teachers to attend a development and mentoring session.

Full Moon Sound Meditation

Join Annie Flatman and Kellie Brett for a full moon energy immersion into you!


We will be utilising the vibration and tone of Tibetan bowls while practicing simple restorative postures. You will receive the deep relaxation of this supported practice with Tibetan bowls placed on/near the body followed by a sound immersion employing gongs and bowls.
